Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku (Japanese for "absorbing the forest atmosphere"), is a practice of mindfully immersing oneself in natural environments to improve health and well-being.
The goal is not exercise (like hiking or jogging), but rather to slow down, be present, and connect with nature through the five senses.
What to Expect
• Gentle Walk: The walk typically covers a short distance at a leisurely pace, allowing participants to fully engage their senses and notice the subtle details of the forest.
• Mindful Activities: Your guide will lead you through a series of invitations, such as deep breathing, silent observation, sensory exploration, and simple movements. These activities are designed to foster relaxation and presence.
• Group Sharing: There may be opportunities for group reflection or sharing, where participants can discuss their experiences and insights in a supportive setting.
• Nature Connection: Participants are encouraged to notice the textures, colors, sounds, and scents around them, cultivating a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
Preparation and Tips
• Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for walking in the forest.
• Bring water and any personal essentials you may need.
